Health Club and Spa – The Health Club and Spa are open 7 days a week, and are typically bustling with activity. Residents can speak with the Fitness Director to receive a customized exercise regimen that meets their unique goals, or they can make use of the fully equipped gym and group classes to create their own routine.
Indoor swimming pool – One of the most popular ways to stay active at Southgate at Shrewsbury is in the heated, indoor swimming pool. It is designed for swimming and aquatic exercise all year round, for both self-directed exercise or group classes.
Four-lane candlepin bowling alley – Candlepin bowling is a local tradition, invented right in the neighboring city of Worcester. It’s also a favorite activity of many of our residents.
Social and Cultural
Theater- There is always something fun happening at the 200-seat theater. Whether they are seated in the balcony or close to the stage, our residents love the time they spend in the theater watching movies or listening to a lecture or visiting musician. It is also the home of a variety of theatrical performances that our residences can partake in or simply enjoy from the audience.
Library with fireplace – The library is a wonderfully cozy place to relax, whether reading a book, a magazine, or simply lounging on the comfortable seating by the fireplace. It is open and airy enough to be comfortable in the summer and cozy enough to be a hot meeting spot the whole winter long.
Chapel – The non-denominational chapel is an important gathering place for many of our residents. It allows them to attend their religious services on a regular schedule, something that they may not have been able to do as frequently while they were living at home.

Beauty salon – One of the best parts of living at Southgate at Shrewsbury is the convenience of having all of your errands accessible right on campus. Our residents love getting a new look at the beauty salon or just having a little touch up to ensure they are looking their best for an event.
Convenience store – The convenience store complements the other dining options to fulfill most of the food and grocery requirements of our residents. So, they don’t have get in the car each time they want a snack or find that they’ve run out of a pantry staple.
The Atrium – This elegant dining room hosts delicious dinners every evening, with dancing added to the mix on occasion. The chef’s seasonally inspired dishes are a delicious way to start an evening, followed by a specialty dessert and coffee. There is also a private dining room that is the perfect venue for a birthday party or other gathering.
The Fountain Café – The Café offers casual dining for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s a great spot for enjoying a leisurely meal while reading the paper or for having a quick bite before one of our concerts or theater events.
Saratoga Cocktail Lounge – The atmosphere at the Cocktail Lounge is unbeatable with a charming fireplace, expertly mixed cocktails and the dulcet sounds of the baby grand piano to serve as the perfect backdrop to good conversation with friends.
Campus – The lovely 30-acre campus features a beautiful park where you can enjoy a stroll, sit on a bench to take in the view and even enjoy an outdoor concert during the summer season.
