Right now, throngs of seniors are likely enjoying a wide variety of exhibits, speaker sessions, live entertainment and more at AARP’s 2014 Life@50+ event, which is going on now through May 10 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
This national event and expo features three exciting days of “exhibits, world-class entertainment and wide ranging information sessions on topics including travel, health and wellness, personal finance, caregiving and more,” AARP’s website explains.
Great entertainment, engaging informational sessions on finance, wellness and more? Sounds like a day in the life of a Southgate at Shrewsbury resident if you ask us!
Right now, our May calendar is chock full of an A-list entertainment, as well as cultural and educational events designed to pique our discerning residents’ interests.
Want a closer look? Here’s a brief sampling of our comprehensive May calendar of events:
Trips to “Arts on the Green”—This month we welcomed Mauro Ledesma, a distinguished concert pianist, for his first New England-based concert of great compositions by European maestros.
Art Matters—We recently explored the little known works by one of the most influential artists of the modern day era since the Renaissance: Pablo Picacco. Our residents engaged in energetic discussions of the many, many styles, expressions, loves and lives of the man at the heart of modern art.
Elder Law Seminar—During an intellectually simulating talk by Worcester attorney Kristina R. Vickstrom, our residents learned the basic estate planning documents EVERYONE should have, whether they are 18 or 118! Plus, Attorney Vickstrom’s talk was chock full of insight into common questions like how to avoid family disputes by clearly stating your wishes if you are incapacitated, how to incorporate trust planning to avoid probate or reach your charitable/family gifting goals and why taking care of your estate while you are well is the best gift you can give your family!
2014 Southgate Olympics—On May 19, the competitive spirit of organized sport will descend on Southgate at Shrewsbury when residents will test their balance skills, hand-eye coordination and their intellectual prowess at an annual socializing and entertaining event of Olympic proportion!
This is just a very small sampling of the wonderful programs our team organizes each and every month for Southgate at Shrewsbury residents. Plus, our residents enjoy a full range of amenities, including our 200-seat theater with balcony, health club and spa, indoor swimming pool, 4-lane candlepin bowling alley, woodworking shop, beauty salon, chapel, arts and crafts studio, billiard and card rooms and much, much more!
If you don’t have plans this weekend, in addition to checking out the 2014 Life@50+ Event and Expo in Boston, why not swing by Southgate at Shrewsbury to tour our phenomenal grounds and offerings. We urge you to talk to our residents, too, who can fill you in on how life at any age is lively, stimulating and fun here at Southgate at Shrewsbury—the best independent senior living community in Massachusetts!
