Women's Circle Presentation
On October 14 the Women’s Circle will present an American Experience story, “The Bombing of Wall Street.” On September 16, 1920, as hundreds of Wall Street workers headed out for lunch, a horse-drawn cart packed with dynamite exploded in front of Morgan Bank, the world’s most powerful banking institution. The blast turned the nation’s financial center into a bloody war zone and left 38 dead and hundreds seriously injured. As financial institutions around the country went on high alert, many wondered if this was a strike against American capitalism that radical agitators had threatened for so long. A mostly forgotten act of terror that remains unsolved, the bombing helped launch the career of a young J. Edgar Hoover and sparked a bitter national debate about how far the government should go to protect the nation from acts of political violence.
Broadway HD Screening
“Butley” Comedy by Harold Pinter.
On any given day Ben Butley, a self-made train wreck of an English literature professor at a London University, can shrug off everyone and everything with equal ease. But today, the disaster of Butley’s proudly misspent life threatens to dwarf even his cynically fatalistic non-expectations. As embodied by Alan Bates, Butley falls back on the surgically precise wit and savage eloquence that helped put him in his current circumstance in the first place.

Jewish Studies Group
We are pleased to announce that the Jewish Studies Group will resume on Oct. 2nd meeting in the Arts & Crafts Room at 2:30 pm. Please welcome Rabbi Suri Krieger who will be leading the group moving forward. Rabbi Suri is equally at home with tradition, liberal theology, and innovation, blending them together to make creative yet authentic ritual and ceremonies. Prioritizing the importance of heritage brings our dynamic Jewish culture to life. Infusing some soulful neshamah into the mix brings spiritual potency to the fore. These are some of the critical elements that characterize Rabbi Suri’s presence on the bima, under the chuppah, and in the classroom. She was ordained in 2008 at the pluralistic Academy for Jewish Religion (AJR), NY.
