We have planned a variety of holiday music to get our residents into a festive spirit, both here at Southgate at Shrewsbury and in the surrounding area.
On December 9, residents who have previously registered will head off on a trip to hear the “Holiday Pops” Concert by the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra. Jorge Soto is the conductor of this beloved Worcester tradition.
Residents who don’t want to brave the cold can stay right here at Southgate and enjoy vocalist Valerie Sneade, who will perform her holiday repertoire that includes all of the classic Christmas favorites, fun carols, and even some holiday tunes that you haven’t likely heard before. The best part of the performance is the singalong version of The 12 days of Christmas, which the audience members always have fun joining in on.
Everyone has their favorite songs that get them into the holiday spirit, and they can choose to hear exactly those favorites during the “Seasonal Songbook” performance by Jack Craig – Music with Class. During this event, our residents are given a booklet that contains more than 100 songs that range from popular Christmas carols to secular, winter-themed and Hanukkah songs. Then, they choose their favorites for the group to perform. Not only does the audience enjoy this personalized performance, Jack ensures that everyone has a great time by mixing in some storytelling and anecdotes in with the music. It is a refreshingly unique event that is guaranteed to be a great time.
While many of these events are just for residents, the December 17 performance of the First Congregational Church presents “We Wish You the Merriest” Holiday Concert is free and open to the public! Everyone who attends will enjoy the harmonious sounds of the Children’s and Youth Choirs, Chimers and the Pealers bell choir. This event takes place from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm.
Great events are happening all the time at Southgate at Shrewsbury. Make plans to come in for a tour and experience one of our public events for yourself!
