The Southgate Welcome Committee recently sponsored an Activities Fair to showcase activities that are organized by residents. Representatives of 28 different committees and programs were on hand to tell new residents about interesting things to do at Southgate. Long-time residents also dropped by to check out activities in which they had not previously participated.
Members of the Southgate Residents’ Council, who are elected by their fellow residents, were at the Activities Fair to discuss the Council’s role in the community. Chairs of Council committees –welcome, dining, program, technology and building & grounds—had their own information tables.
Other activities on display ranged from Mahjong to book groups, the library, the current events forum, religious studies, breakfast programs, storytelling, crafts, gardening, and the Bargain Box thrift store.
